 For short distances up to 5 km, it is more advantageous to take a taxi. For distances over 5 km, transfer prices are more favorable. Taxis in Istanbul can be ordered through an app (recommended) or hailed on the street. Depending on the class (economy, comfort, business), cars come in yellow, blue, and black colors.

 There are taxi stands at airports. Drivers usually speak only Turkish, while when booking a transfer in Istanbul, you can choose English-speaking driver. 

 In a taxi, you will need to pay extra for waiting, stopping on demand, being stuck in traffic, and for assistance with luggage loading. There is a risk of getting a driver who wants to earn more than necessary. The meter in the car may be faulty.

In Istanbul, there are two airports: New Istanbul Airport (IST) and Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW). You can order a transfer from either of them. After a long flight, especially with children, you are unlikely to go in search of a taxi or other means of getting to the hotel.

Book a car for your arrival, and you will already be met near the exit with a sign. You don't need to worry about cash in the local currency or language barrier immediately as you step off the plane (as there are few taxi drivers who speak English).
